The annual Sunbury Agriculture Show is back for another year and the excitement is building.
This weekend’s event marks the 99th year the show has been running and show secretary Sandie Braun said there would be something for everyone to feast their eyes on.
“We have a very big horse show, we’ll have some chooks and several different sheep breeds being judged,” she said.
“Salesian College Sunbury [students] will bring along sheep and cattle to the show. We have a very big handicraft pavilion and carnival rides. There will be a very big pet parade and my favourite event, the dog high jump.”
Up to 13,000 people are expected to attend the show at the weekend.
“We certainly encourage all, especially new residents to the area, to come along because you get a lot of the things you get at the Melbourne Show but on a smaller version,” Ms Braun said.
“We have a very small committee who runs the show. We’re all very dedicated and we have worked very hard to put on a good show. It’s a real team effort.”
The Sunbury Agriculture Show is on Saturday, October 12 at Sunbury Recreation Reserve, Riddell Road from 8.30am-4.30pm.
Cost $15 for adults, $5 for children aged 6-15 and $10 for students and pensioners.
