Sunbury artist Elly-Louise Tyquin honours her mother

The daughter of a woman who was killed in Sunbury two years ago is expressing her grief through her artwork.

Sunbury artist Elly-Louise Tyquin will this week launch her exhibition The Unfurling of Grief, presenting her physical reaction to loss, at Trocadero Art Space in Footscray.

Tyquin’s work deals with the sudden death of her mother Rachel Tyquin, who was 44 years old when she was stabbed to death in Sunbury in 2016.

“I decided to explore and express my pathway with grief through my art practice as a way of understanding death,” Tyquin said.

The exhibition is open from April 25 to May 12. Details: www.ellylouiseart.com
