Sunbury Animal Hospital closed following COVID-19 exposure

The Sunbury Animal Hospital has temporarily closed following the exposure of a positive COVID-19 case at the clinic.

The Macedon Street animal hospital is expected to be closed for 48 hours for deep cleaning.

In an online statement, the hospital said the closure was purely a safety precaution.

“No direct exposure has occurred with any clients or pets,” the statement read.

“The health and wellbeing of our staff, clients and pets is paramount and we are taking every precaution to ensure their safety.

“We would like to stress again that no close contact between the coronavirus positive person and any other clients has occurred, mainly due to the vigilance of the COVID-19 protocols we have had in place for several months.”

For pets who require an urgent refill or prescription for medication, or to book a future appointment, owners are asked to call 0490 293 546 between 8am and 8pm.

Sunbury Animal Hospital is expected to reopen Friday morning at 8am.
