Champion racehorse Subzero received a warm welcome during a tour of Macedon Ranges last Tuesday.
Children and seniors alike were wowed by the 16-hand high ‘Subbie’, who visited Woodend and Hesket primary schools and BUPA Aged Care as part of a Racing Victoria education program.
A BUPA spokeswoman said residents of the Woodend aged care centre were in raptures when the 1992 Melbourne Cup winner was led through the front doors and into the recreation hall.
‘‘They were just in awe of his size … so many of the residents just lit up when they saw him. Many of them have a farming background and they just relished the chance to feed him a carrot and give him a pat.’’
