Students take charge

Kyneton High School Year 12 VCE-Vocactional Major students are gearing up for the school event of the year.

The students have organised a twilight market as part of the practical component of their studies, with the whole Year 12 VM cohort taking up various roles in the lead up to the big event.

Students Tara Fitzgerald and Joshua McFadyen-Webster were tasked with promoting the event, and shared some details about what to expect.

“The twilight market is going to have heaps of stalls, food trucks, a car show, with entertainment in between,“ Tara said.

Joshua said they have been busy speaking with local businesses, primary schools, councils and the local newspapers.

“Hopefully we’re getting a lot of attention for people to come over to the market and have a fun time,” he said.

The market night promises to be a fun event for the whole community, with the funds raised through the project going back into the school.

“We’re fundraising so we can have money to run projects for next year’s VMs,” Tara said.

“We’ve run a bunch of projects this year from the funding from last year, including a clothes drive.”

Each year, the Year 12 VM students lead a big project like the twilight market, with all funding going towards next year’s senior cohort.

“This year, we’re trying for 50 market stalls, 15 food trucks and 50 cars (for the show and shine),” Tara said.

“Our fundraising goals are $6000 in donations and then to bring that up to $10,000 (through fundraising, raffle and silent auction).“

The twilight market will be held on Friday, October 10 from 5pm to 8pm at Kyneton High School.
