Students best dressed for Children’s Book Week

Kismet Park Primary School students have dressed to impress for Children’s Book Week.

The students embraced this year’s theme of Book an Adventure, celebrating in style with a series of events planned.

Throughout the week, the staff hosted a range of activities, including lessons reviewing books from the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book of the Year Awards.

Students also took the opportunity to design a book cover and design a comic strip, as well as partake in many games and competitions including ‘Guess the Teacher Behind the Book’ and book trivia.

Acting principal Sam Carlton praised the students for their efforts during the week.

“We are so proud of our students for coming together to celebrate this special week, it is a

great opportunity to share and review outstanding works of literature for young Australians,” he said.

The week finished with the annual Book Week Parade, with students showcasing their costumes along with their favourite books. Parents were invited to join in on the fun, and so was the local neighbouring kindergarten for the parade.

“Book Week is all about nurturing a love for reading in our students through sharing rich

texts and celebrating the creativity of authors and illustrators,” literacy learning specialist Brodie Lane said.

“Our Book Parade is a highlight of the week and a joyful community event that everyone looks forward to each year.”
