Young and old learnt from each other in an initiative aimed at bringing the community together.
Children at St Andrews Sunbury Kindergarten have been learning how to knit and crochet squares to be stitched together for the centre’s tree warmer project.
Head teacher Angela Dance said the project encouraged children and their families to come together with the community.
“Our intention is to teach the children how to interact with the wider community, observe and enjoy the combined efforts of a community towards a project and feel a sense of pride and ownership in their kindergarten environment,” Ms Dance said.
The kindergarten engaged volunteers from the local knitting clubs to help them create the patchwork from donated wool.
“The children enjoyed learning a new skill of sewing squares into a colourful blanket,” Ms Dance said.
