Leah and Azahria are about to dance their way to South Africa – but they need help to get there.

Nine-year-old Leah and 10-year-old Azahria have danced at Classique School of Dance in Sunbury since they were toddlers.

Now in their seventh year with the dance school, their hard work has paid off after being selected to compete in the Australian Dance Society international theatrical dance team at the commonwealth dance championships in South Africa next July. The national team will compete against dancers from Korea, Russia, the US and England.

Azahria’s mum Monique Penza is calling on the community to help the dancers fundraise for training, uniform, travel and accommodation expenses.

“Over the next year we will be calling on everyone and anyone to donate or sponsor the girls because … in Australia, dance is not considered a sport and the girls must rely on donations to travel and compete,” Ms Penza said.

Fundraising events are also planned over the next 12 months. A bank account has been set up in the girls name for those wishing to do a cash donation.
