A colourful poster, hand-drawn by a grade 2 pupil at St Anne’s Primary School at Sunbury, is raising awareness about some of the reasons people find themselves disadvantaged.

Chosen from more than 100 entries statewide, reproductions of James Chapman’s winning design will be displayed at all Vinnies stores around Victoria.

Created after a lengthy class discussion, James’s drawings touch on the problems of homelessness, unemployment and disability.

‘‘It’s so that people know who are the people who need help in our country,’’ James says of his works.

‘‘I was very excited when I heard I won, coz I worked really hard on it and put in a big effort.’’

St Anne’s has a ‘‘Mini Vinnies’’ team, which recently staged a walk-a-thon that raised $3500 for charity.
