The ladies at Aveo Sunbury retirement village have been knitting up a storm.

Concerned about the homeless in the Macedon Ranges, the knitting group members contacted the Gisborne Rotary asking how they could help.

Rotary member Brendan Watters said the knitting group had now been knitting for the homeless for about six months.

“The ladies from the knitting group … have been hard at work providing for the homeless and disadvantaged in the Macedon Ranges area,” he said.

“A stream of woollen items has been collected by Rotary for delivery to Cobaw Health, which distributes to the disadvantaged and the homeless.

“On March 20, Gisborne Rotary Club were presented with 20 blankets plus beanies, scarves and gloves.

“With the coming winter months, these donations will make a significant difference to those in need.”
