Speed limit changes are coming to Macedon Ranges town centres.
Following consultation with the community, Macedon Ranges council said it has received formal approval from the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) to undertake speed limit reductions in Riddells Creek, Gisborne, Woodend and Kyneton town centres.
In the Riddells Creek town centre, the speed on four streets will be reduced from 50km/h to 40km/h, including Sutherlands Road from Foodworks until the east side of Stephen Street. After Stephen Street, Sutherlands Road will be reduced to 60km/h from 80km/h until 141 Sutherlands Road.
In Woodend’s town, six streets will go from 50km/h to 40km/h, two from 60km/h to 50km/h, and Brooke Street from High Street to Wood Street will be reduced from 60km/h down to 40km/h.
In Kyneton’s town centre, 25 streets will be reduced from 50km/h to 40km/h, including sections of Piper Street, Yaldwyn Street and Main Street.
Mollison Street will be reduced from 60km/h to 40km/h from Piper Street until north of Beauchamp Street.
In the centre of Gisborne, nine streets will be reduced from 50km/h to 40km/h, and another five will be reduced to 50km/h from 60km/h.
Council said the reductions will be implemented over the next few months.
Council also advised the proposed roundabout improvements in Gisborne are progressing at two key intersections; the existing roundabout at Aitken/Hamilton streets, and the transforming the existing intersection at Brantome/Hamilton streets to have a compact roundabout.
Council said both of these projects were delayed during the design stage but are expected to be finished by the end of 2026.
