Families with young children are being encouraged to head to storytime at their local library between May 15-21 in celebration of National Families Week.

Libraries across the Macedon Ranges will be hosting a series of special storytime programs centred around this year’s theme, ‘Stronger Families, Stronger Communities’.

Acting mayor Natasha Gayfer has encouraged families to join the national celebration.

“Let’s recognise the role that families play in building a stronger community and take time to celebrate your community with your loved ones,” Cr Gayfer said.

Gisborne library manager Sara Bryant said families loved coming along to storytime sessions every week.

“They are a great way to introduce children to the concept of books, reading, libraries and socialisation,” Ms Bryant said.

“They also help build that strong family connection, with mums, dads and grandparents singing and dancing along with their little one.”
