Very special light display

Brett Greenland spent nearly 300 hours programming the Christmas lights spectacular at his Kurunjang home.

His labour of love attracted more than 1500 people on Christmas eve to enjoy the 15-minute lights display set to classic carols as well as the children’s jingle Baby Shark.

The Greenlands transform their Melrome Court house with 15,000 lights each year to raise money for charity.

The cause hit closer to home after their son Jonah, a twin, died shortly after birth in October. The family raised $1500 for Very Special Kids, the charity that has helped them during their grief.

Mr Greenland said the display would now be an annual tribute to their son.

“My son Jonah passed away at just … hours old to a very rare condition,” he said.

“We … were faced with many milestones to keep both boys alive during the 34-week road to delivery.

“Caleb and Jonah successfully entered the world against all the medical odds but not without complications.

“Very Special Kids has continued to support my family during this extremely hard journey and do so weekly, so now we want to help raise awareness and support the organisation.

“Our mission for our lights display has become quite personal by honouring and remembering Jonah.”
