Sunbury and Bulla residents have woken to thick cloud of black smoke after a fire broke out at the Bulla Tip.
Reports of the fire come in at abut 6.15am and the fire was still burning out of control just after 8am.
Eleven CFA trucks are at the scene on Sunbury Road, with assistance from Fire Rescue Victoria.
The CFA has issued smoke warnings for Bulla, Diggers Rest, Greenvale, Keilor North, Melbourne Airport, Oaklands Junction, Sunbury and Wildwood.
Residents in the area are urged to avoid area and close all windows and doors if sensitive to smoke.
The fire does not pose a threat to the community.
