The Sunbury StreetLife Festival committee is on the lookout for more volunteers to help showcase the best of local business.

Last week the volunteer group elected their committee to begin organising the festival, which will be held on Sunday, November 21 on O’Shanassy Street.

Newly elected committee president Simmone Cottom said a lot of work will have to go into preparations to make sure the event is COVID-19 safe.

“After COVID-19 I wanted to give back to the community and help them get back to how they were before,” Ms Cottom said.

“This year we’re going to have QR codes for everybody to scan and a track going one way so that we can regulate the number of people.

”We invite anyone who would like to be involved in planning to come and give us a hand.

“We’re also reaching out to any businesses that would like to be involved.”

The festival was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19 lockdown.

In 2019, the event attracted more than 100 businesses that set up stalls and sold a range of goods and services.

This year the committee is also appealing to any performers that would like participate in the festival.

Ms Cottom said the festival was a perfect opportunity to support the community.

“I really want to make sure it [the festival] can happen again in a safe way,” she said.

“Let’s get behind small businesses and bring people together.”
