Kyneton Secondary College students are now enjoying new facilities at their school.
Education Minister James Merlino visited the school last Thursday to officially open a $10.9 million revamp.
Principal Ana Rees said the money was used to upgrade an existing building and construct a new trades hub.
“It was to refurbish an existing building so that it could become a year 7-8 learning community building and to also build a brand new learning and innovative hub,” she said. “There are a number of learning programs, so we’ve got the traditional industries like automotive and building and construction.
“It also has a skills lair and a breakout space for group work in small groups, computers and desktop spaces for the students to use.
“It’s been a huge process for the Kyneton community to finally get an upgrade.
“Construction started in December 2017 and went right through 2018 and we were able to open the building at the beginning of the year.”
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said she was delighted Kyneton Secondary College students and teachers could now enjoy state-of-the-art facilities.
“This fantastic upgrade will help give students across the region the support they need to succeed in their chosen career and life,” she said.
“It is great to be able to have facilities that can help a hands-on approach to learning at the school.”
Mr Merlino said he had “no doubt students would benefit from these great new school facilities”.
“We’re making sure our schools have the best facilities and classrooms so that local students have access to the skills they need to succeed at school and beyond,” he said.
“I am very excited for everyone who has helped turned Kyneton Secondary College’s vision into a reality.”
