Scale model group soars

Joined at a table full of various models, 18 members from the Sunbury Area Scale Model Group gathered in January for their biggest meeting yet.

The group, which formed in 2019, comes together once a month to share their passion and love for scale models.

Group member Antoney Wilkinson said the group started when a handful of the members met at an Australian model expo and realised they were from the Sunbury area.

“The format of the meeting is very simple, people chat and catch up at the start of the meeting then we get into the formal side,” he said.

“We talk about the models that the modellers have brought along to show and the experience they’ve had in building it.

“[This includes] the different tools, materials, the aftermarket, the challenges and solutions they used to get the finished product.”

Modellers from all different levels of experience are welcome to join the group, along with different interests and scales.

Mr Wilkinson said the group includes just about any medium and is open to modellers who are 17 years old and above.

“Some of our members have scratch built.

“We’re looking for modellers in the Sunbury and surrounding areas, we’re still relatively new and finding our feet.”

If anyone is interested in joining and would like to know more, they can contact the group via the Facebook page.
