Gisborne State Emergency Service (SES) Unit will host a sandbag collection point ahead of wet and windy weather set to lash the Macedon Ranges this week.
In a Facebook post, Gisborne SES said sandbags are limited to 12 per household to ensure there is enough for everyone.
“You can purchase additional sandbags from Bunnings and other garden/hardware retailers,” Gisborne SES said.
“Please be patient and respectful of others. We will have volunteers available to answer any questions you have about storm preparedness.
“We ask that you don’t park in the driveway until you have to load sandbags into your vehicle so we can maintain access to respond to emergencies.”
Residents who require emergency assistance in storms or floods can contact SES on 132 500. If an emergency is life threatening contact Triple-0.
Gisborne SES is located at 33 Robertson St, Gisborne.
