Sacred Heart College Kyneton’s new applied learning hub is up and running.

College VCAL co-ordinator Helen Campbell said the new learning space, officially opened last week, was a great addition for students.

“It’s an open classroom space with two inter-connecting rooms dedicated to a variety of learning styles,” Ms Campbell said.

She said the repurposed building would enable teachers to practise their team teaching.

Small clusters of tables have been made available for students to complete hands-on group work in the new hub.

“It’s designed for applied learning kids, it’s also used for STEM activities, robotics, VET horticulture students and our year 9 LINCS [Learning, Initiating, Networking
and Connecting for Success] program,” she said.

Ms Campbell described last week’s opening of the hub – attended by MP Mary-Anne Thomas and Macedon Ranges mayor Jennifer Anderson – as a huge success for the school community.

“The opening went really well,” Ms Campbell said.
