UPDATE: Jodie Binks-Brown was found safe and well at 9.30pm on Monday, July 24.
The family of missing Romsey schoolgirl Jodie Binks-Brown have pleaded for the teen to get in contact, saying they are concerned for her welfare.
The 13-year old was last seen on Friday morning walking to the school bus in Romsey.
She told her brother she was going home to get her shoes about 7.45am, but did not return to catch the bus with him.
Later that day her parents found her bike, a backpack and other clothing was missing from the house.
On Sunday her mother, Lesley Brown, told reporters she was sick to her stomach with worry.
“Every hour she’s gone it’s just making it worse,” Ms Brown said.
“If she was out in the cold, I don’t know how she would survive. It’s like minus two here at night. How could anybody stay safe in that situation?”
The distressed mother pleaded for her daughter to let the family know she was safe.
“We miss you badly, baby. We miss you so much. We just want you to come home but if that’s not possible at the moment please … just let us know you’re safe,” she said.
Police have concerns for Jodie’s welfare because she does not have a phone or access to money.
They believe she may have travelled to Kyneton.
Jodie was last seen wearing her school uniform – a navy blue T-shirt, navy blue trackpants, white runners and a raincoat with red stripes.
Her school bag is navy blue with white stars and she is believed to have taken her Carlton Football Club back park with ‘JODIE B B’ printed on it.
Her bike is a metallic blue BMX.
Anyone with information about Jodie is urged to contact Kyneton police on 5421 2900.
