Romsey CFA brigade is celebrating after receiving upgrades thanks to community, council, state government and local business support.

The brigade has two new firefighting appliances, including a heavy tanker.

Brigade captain Nic Needham said members had undertaken months of intensive training in preparation for the new tanker.

An upgraded forward control vehicle has been funded largely by a state government grant. But a donation of $2204.78 by Romsey IGA last month helped cover the remaining cost of the vehicle.

“This generous donation couldn’t have come at a more ideal time,” Captain Needham said.

“This donation from IGA will allow the brigade to direct funds raised by the community back into the community.”

He said the brigade had purchased two new defibrillators, thanks to community donations, and a marquee and barbecue for community events with a grant from Macedon Ranges council. Romsey’s old tanker has been handed over to the Clarkefield CFA brigade.
