The many and varied contributions of volunteers from the Macedon Ranges’ six neighbourhood houses have been acknowledged at a morning tea at Riddells Creek.
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas presented certificates of appreciation last Thursday as part of celebrations marking Volunteers Week.
She said the learning centres served a valuable role in connecting people.
‘‘Our neighbourhood houses and their volunteers are like part of the family, always happy to see a friendly face and willing to lend a helping hand,’’ Ms Thomas said.
Chris Clark, who has volunteered at the Riddells Creek house since 2006, said neighbourhood houses gave people a chance to learn and contribute to their community.
‘‘They’re something all of the community can benefit from,’’ she said.
The Riddells Creek house has about 10 volunteers helping to deliver more than 30 programs.
