Pedestrians, drivers and cyclists are set for a safer travel in Riddells Creek.

The existing zebra crossing will be replaced and more visible pedestrian-operated lights installed at Kilmore/ Main Road intersection.

The upgrade will also include channel, kerb and line marking.

Construction will be carried out during the day, with traffic management in place. Speed limits will be reduced to 40km/h and temporary lane closures put in place.

Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas visited the road last month to mark the start of the $400,000 project, which is funded by Regional Roads Victoria.

She said the new and improved crossing would provide security for those who use it on a day-to-day basis.

“I’m proud that we’re delivering a safer crossing for Riddells Creek,” Ms Thomas said.

“This crossing upgrade will make the area safer for pedestrians and cyclists in our community – giving people in Riddells Creek better peace of mind when travelling to the shops or train station.”

The crossing is expected to be completed by late this month.
