More than 2000 people are expected at the Riddells Creek Twilight Festival next month to celebrate the resilience of their community.
Event organiser Nicole Garbutt, of Riddells Creek Neighbourhood House, says the November 26 festival, now in its second year, came about as a way to bring the community together after devastating bushfires swept the area in 2014.
“We planned the festival as a way to say thank-you to the firefighters, who worked so hard to protect us,” Ms Garbutt says. “It is an event for the whole community, where residents can catch up with friends … and welcome new residents.”
Last year, more than 2500 people attended, and this year there will be more rides and entertainment, she says, plus more than 70 stalls showcasing local food, products and services.
Activities will include an animal farm, pony rides, a huge slide, a jumping castle and a Riddells Got Talent competition. Station Street in Riddells Creek, will be blocked off to vehicle traffic from 2pm. Details: 5428 7836 or email rcnh@westnet.com.au
