Construction on a new Sunbury housing estate is underway.

Known as the Redstone estate, civil works on the first two stages of the 2500-lot development has begun.

The Redwood estate off Sunbury Road will feature a Villawood residents’ resort club, a 40,000 square metre retail complex, playgrounds and open spaces adjoining Jacksons Creek.

Villawood chief executive Alan Miller said the company launched online property sales during the height of the COVID-19 lockdown in April.

“With construction underway, Redstone lots are … scheduled for titling next year, well ahead of neighbouring competitors,” he said.

“We have demonstrated faith in our Sunbury product and instilled some real confidence in the market with our successful Redstone online sales launch … and now with our timely construction start.

“We locked in Redstone’s April 18 launch date last year. When COVID-19 struck, we said there would be no delay.

“We showed we have confidence in the market and in Sunbury and, lo and behold, construction is now happening.

“I don’t think any other developer is starting construction.”

Sunbury MP Josh Bull said the Redstone estate presented an important opportunity for both home buyers and for present and ongoing employment.

“It is terrific to see construction being at Villawood Properties’ Redstone development,” he said.

“This new development will build upon our wonderful community and offer new opportunities for first home buyers as well as those wanting to upgrade.

“Importantly, the new development will help deliver thousands of new local jobs in civil work, contraction, and when it is complete, the new retail precinct.”
