Recognising excellence

Macedon Ranges-born health promotion charity, Live4Life, has won the National LiFE Award for the communities in action category.

Suicide Prevention Australia announced the recipients of the annual awards on May 1, which celebrate the commitment and determination of those working towards the reduction of suicide within communities.

Live4Life was recognised for delivering teen and youth mental health First Aid training in schools and wider community, facilitating conversations about mental health and suicide prevention, and promoting mental health ambassadors.

Suicide Prevention Australia chief executive Nieves Murray said in acknowledging the inspiring contributions of award recipients, we are reminded that change is possible and that there is always hope and help available.

“The awards celebrate and amplify initiatives that are breaking new ground so that others can learn and embed best-practice suicide prevention solutions across their communities,” she said.

“The awards are a vehicle for showcasing innovative approaches to suicide prevention so that together we can all work towards a world without suicide.

“Every step taken towards suicide prevention is a step towards a more compassionate and informed society. Our award recipients have taken not just steps but leaps forward in this endeavour.

“We extend our congratulations and gratitude to the 2024 recipients for working so tirelessly to help improve the lives of others in our local communities.”

Nominations for the 2025 LiFE Awards will be opening soon, and locals are encouraged to keep an eye out for community members or workplaces doing innovative work in suicide prevention.
