Kyneton and Malmsbury community groups will be able to apply for one of two $5000 rebates made available after the water supply was interrupted in April.
Coliban Water announced the rebates on May 11, following the outage which resulted in a boil water advisory from April 11 to April 16.
Executive general manager customer and stakeholder experience Lauren McLean said incidents like these are an inconvenience, and the rebates will be paid as part of the customer and community rebates program.
“We know service supply interruptions impact customers and businesses in small communities,” Ms McLean said.
“It does not reflect the standard of service we’ve committed to and we have apologised to those customers.”
A credit has been applied for customers who experienced the interruption, with those interrupted for less than five hours receiving $30, and those interrupted for more than five hours receiving $50.
“We have identified eligible properties, and the relevant amount has been automatically credited to customers’ accounts, which will be visible on their next bill,” Ms McLean said.
The community group rebates will be awarded following expressions of interest, with the aim to provide the whole community with a financial benefit.
