Readers share best reads

To celebrate Book Week, readers from across Hume shared what they are currently reading and their favourite book. Here’s what they said …

Josie Mitzi, Hume children’s library technician

What are you reading at the moment?

As my customers are under 10 years old I spend most of my time reading kids’ books. It helps me to know what’s trending and what’s new so that I can make recommendations.

I have just finished reading a few new picture books written by local authors which are really special as most of the community know the characters in the stories.

Granny Franny by Karen Shelton Ficheroux is a true story about her mum who found purpose and passion knitting clothing and toys for people in need in Australia and all over the world. A great book about kindness and generosity and giving back to the community.

What is your favourite book?

At the moment I love reading a new book called Our Library by Donna Rawlins and published by Wild Dog Books. It’s a wonderful book about families who love visiting their library, not just for books but for fun activities. Everyone is welcome at the library and inclusivity and diversity has been included in the beautiful artwork of the book. I hope our community feel the same about our libraries in Hume.
