Macedon Ranges mayor Janet Pearce has been appointed to the 2020 Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel.

The role of the panel is to provide high level advice to Local Government Minister Adem Somyurek on a range of legislative, regulatory, strategic and policy decisions that impact local councils.

The panel comprises of 15 mayors from across the state. The group will meet four times a year.

Cr Pearce said it was a great honour to be appointed to the panel, which brings together mayors from a variety of municipalities.

“It is great to see the diversity on the panel, not only in terms of location but in the broad range of experience and backgrounds of the mayors participating,” she said.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Macedon Ranges Shire to have a voice at the state government level, for mayors from across the state to work together towards a common goal to build on existing partnerships and be strong advocates for our communities.

“It will be a chance not only to impart knowledge and experience, but to listen, learn and share.”

The Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel’s first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 26.
