There will be some quirky characters popping up in coming weeks in the lead-up to the Lancefield Agricultural Show.
Families are being encouraged to get creative in the town’s first scarecrow contest as part of the October 16 show.
The Lancefield Agricultural Show will highlight the region’s best producers of food, wine and livestock as well as offering entertainment for the whole family.
Contest organiser Cassandra Browne says she’s excited to see what locals around town can rustle up for their scarecrow entries and will also be calling on businesses to join in the fun.
“We’d love to see as many businesses, schools and homes as possible get involved in creating and displaying a scarecrow to promote the show and to keep us all entertained over the school holidays,” Ms Browne said.
“We want people to get creative and start decorating their little straw person for display outside their home or business.
“How about a yoga scarecrow on High Street? Or a Dr Crow out the front of Country Practice?”
Prizes are on offer for the best school or youth entry and best general entry.
Entries are now being accepted, with forms available at lancefieldshow.org.au/entries/
