Protecting schools from bushfires

The state government is investing $9.5 million in 2022-23 to prepare schools for bushfire season.

Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas announced the funding, which will continue the Bushfire Preparedness (Vegetation) Program, and includes allocations to 332 schools.

“This investment will go a long way in helping schools in Macedon be as prepared as they can be this bushfire season by getting on to those works that will help mitigate the risk of fire,” Ms Thomas said.

“We are ensuring that every Victorian school is well maintained and safe so that every student can learn in the best possible environment.”

A number of schools in the region will benefit from the injection, which will be used to undertake essential vegetation clearance works before bushfire season and in line with municipal fire danger periods.
