Hume council is reminding residents to keep their properties protected from illegal dumpers.
Following recent reports of dumped rubbish impacting private property, council has compiled a list of tips to help residents manage and prevent illegal dumping.
Residents can report dumped rubbish to council online or by phone.
If the rubbish appears to come from a nearby private block and you know the landowner, try to notify them directly. Council also suggests taking photos and noting the location and date of the dumping.
To keep your property protected, council recommends for vacant block owners to fence or secure the property, consider security cameras and adding lighting.
Council also offers free waste disposal options for residents, including hard waste collections, Resource Recovery Centres, Hume Clean Days, and bundled branch collections.
