One of Sunbury’s newest principals plans to build her school on a foundation of respect and inclusivity.

Krystine Hocking took on the leadership role of Holy Trinity Catholic primary school this week with building well on its way at the Mitchells Road site ahead of its 2019 opening.

Her more than 30 years teaching and school leadership experience qualified her for the position which starts with meeting families and growing the Holy Trinity school community.

“Good teachers get to know the child and understand how each child learns, building on their strengths and instilling a hunger in their students to learn more,” Ms Hocking said.

“I will build a team of teachers who understand the link between wellbeing, resilience and academic achievement and who are committed to developing authentic relationships with students, parents and the wider community.”

Ms Hocking said she was committed to nurturing “life-long learners” and fostering a strong, respectful and inclusive school where everyone was welcomed.

“I’m excited by the opportunity to develop a school that is creative and vibrant, providing a welcoming, positive learning environment,” she said.

“It’s about empowering and equipping students with the skills and dispositions to be successful and active members of our society.

“Self-respect and respect for others …learning about values and morals is strongly woven into a Catholic education.”
