Prime time for comedy material

There’s nothing like a leadership spill to give a comedian material.

Rod Quantock and Hung Le are performing their Rubber Chicken Soup show in the Newport Comedy Room this month.

Le, who arrived in Australia as a refugee in 1975 after the Vietnam War, said the pair were compelled to reflect on recent events in Canberra.

“I was just on a cruise ship and then come back, got a new prime minister,” he said.

“Four days I was away.

“You can plan your whole life around new prime ministers now. Every time we get a new prime minister, I go and tune my car.

“Peter Dutton wanted to be prime minister and all of a sudden there were smiling pictures of him.

“He’d never smiled in his life. He’s got the resting angry face and all of a sudden he’s smiling.

“He didn’t fool anyone anyway.”

Looking at the new cabinet, Le said it’s a case of if you don’t laugh, you cry.

The show will end with an original song titled, I Still call Australia by Phone.

Rubber Chicken Soup is on September 14 at 8pm at Newport Bowling Club, 4 Market Street, Newport.

Tickets at $30/$35 are available at www.stellavision.com.au
