Macedon Pony Club has galloped into winning territory.
The club won the games state title at the Games Flat Teams & Musical Ride State Championships in Gladysdale against 23 teams.
Last month’s event consisted of six games involving high speed riding, vaulting and horsemanship skills.
Werribee Pony Club district commissioner Wayne Cuthbert said the Macedon team was the best he had seen.
“I’ve been watching and coaching games teams for the annual zone qualifying and state events since the 1990s,” he said. “The win was a credit to the way the Macedon team rode and handled themselves on the day.”
Macedon Pony Club life member Norm Glenn said winning wasn’t everything.
“Whilst the club loves to compete, we are first and foremost focused on fun and the development of quality youth and lifelong friendships,” he said. “Then development of skilled riders in all the horse-riding disciplines.”
It is the fourth time the club has won the state title since 1973.
