Police seek witnesses after stabbing on Sunbury-bound train

Police are seeking witnesses to a stabbing on a Sunbury-bound train last week.

It is alleged a man travelling on a train between Footscray and Sunshine railway stations about 9.15pm on Friday, July 9 was verbally abusive to other passengers before stabbing a 33 -year-old passenger twice.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe the man was involved in two other assaults earlier in the night.

At 8.45pm a man at a supermarket on Barkly Street in West Footscray was punched.

The offender then boarded a bus from Barkly Street and assaulted a passenger before disembarking from the rear door of the bus about 8.50pm.

Police have described the offender as a caucasian man, wearing a dark hoodie, a dark bandana covering his face, black pants and blue shoes.
