Investigators from the sex crimes squad set up a caravan in Lancefield last Thursday and Friday as they continued to hunt the men responsible for a violent home invasion.

Detective Senior Sergeant Shane Manuell said that while police had received information from a number of sources, a breakthrough had yet to be made.

A woman, 36, and her partner, 42, were tied up after two men, armed with what police believe to have been a .22 calibre rifle, stormed their house in Red Gap Road about 2am on May 29.

Senior Sergeant Manuell said police still wanted to speak to a man described as being about 182 centimetres tall, between 30 and 40 years old, of medium build and with pale skin.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing dark tracksuit pants and top and a fake police vest.

The men entered through an unlocked door and ransacked the house while searching for money. One of the men took the woman into a bedroom, where she was threatened and sexually assaulted.

The men later fled in a car. Neighbours reported seeing a pale coloured four-door sedan in the area about the time of the incident.
