Kyneton police are still seeking witnesses after a man was found seriously injured in the town following a hit-and-run over the Easter long weekend.

According to police, a man was discovered on Sturt Street shortly after 2am on Saturday, April 16, after witnesses heard two loud thuds and called emergency services.

The 33-year-old Kyneton man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries and continues to recover in hospital, police said.

“Investigators believe the man was hit by a vehicle, which failed to stop at the scene,” police said.

“Police would like to speak to anyone who drove through the area around that time and may have seen a pedestrian or anything suspicious.

“Due to the long weekend and increased visitors in the area, police are investigating if the driver was possibly from another area of Victoria,” they said.
