Tradies who have successfully completed their apprenticeships in the past five years could soon be able to apply for Trade Papers.
Trade Papers, a separate certificate in recognition of apprenticeships, were scrapped last year and apprentices currently only receive a VET qualification upon completion of their courses.
But Skills and Training Minister Gayle Tierney made an election pledge last week to have them reintroduced next year.
“Whether it’s bringing back Trade Papers, making TAFE courses free or transforming campuses, we’re rebuilding TAFE after years of devastating cuts,” Ms Tierney said on a visit to Kyneton last week.
She said that the investment would include $43.8 million to reintroduce Trade Papers, implement new independent assessments, update learning materials to help create quality apprenticeships and traineeships.
