Power outages have affected Powercor customers in New Gisborne, Riddells Creek and surrounding areas this week.
In a statement, Powercor said it was working to identify the cause of outages.
“Since Monday, customers in the area have experienced three unplanned outages. Crews have responded as quickly as possible to restore power. At this stage, no cause has been found for the outages,” Powercor said.
“We know how much our customers rely on us to deliver reliable and safe power to their homes and businesses, and we recognise that unfortunately our network is currently not meeting its usual high standards of reliability in this area.”
The company said it was conducting forensic patrols of more than 112 kilometres of powerlines to identify the cause.
“Any issues detected through the patrols will be immediately addressed,” Powercor said.
“In addition, specialised fault detection technology is also being installed in three locations today to allow us to detect a more precise location for investigation.”
The company said it was also investigating other ways to reduce impacts on customers and were doing “everything” to address reliability issues being experienced by customers in the area.
Powercor said they would continue to provide updates on the work.
