Kerby, is the new face of recycling in the Macedon Ranges.

The mascot is the face of the council’s Let’s Get Sorted Waste and Recycling Campaign and will be hard at work visiting schools and attending events across the region to help residents sort their waste in the right bins.

When wearing the lime green FOGO (Food Organics Garden Organics) hat, Kerby collects food and garden wastes and turns them into compost for local farms, parks and gardens.

Kerby wears a yellow recycling hat, to collect recyclable materials to be turn into new items.

Kerby collects glass to be turned into roads and new items when the purple glass-only hat is on, and the red general waste hat, is for collecting left over items that can’t be recycled or composted.

The winning bin mascot name was chosen from more than 70 entries by families and school students to the council’s bin mascot naming competition that ran during August and September.

To have Kerby attend a school or community event, get in touch with the council’s Resource Recovery Team on 5422 0333.
