The youth are the future, and it’s time to nominate brilliant and inspiring young Macedon Ranges locals for council’s 2022 Youth Awards.
Since 2006, the awards have celebrated hundreds of young people for their contributions and achievements within the community, and society more broadly.
Nominations opened on June 6, and any young person or group of young people aged 12 to 25 who live, work or attend school in the Macedon Ranges can be put forward.
Council’s director of community Maria Weiss said the awards raised up the “wonderful achievements” of the municipality’s youth, acknowledged their efforts.
“It’s really important to encourage and reward young people for the work they do as role models within our community,” Ms Weiss said.
“These young people are our future and no doubt will go on to continue to do great things for our society.”
There are six accolades up for grabs, including the Willpower, Good deeds, Pure imagination, Nicely played, Skilling it and Well aware awards.
Previous winners include Lara Vincente, who received the Willpower award for “pushing herself outside of her comfort zone” by becoming a cadet sergeant and volunteering at a respite service for young people, as well as Hugo Lobb. who scored the Nicely played gong for representing Australia in archery.
“If you know an inspiring young person aged 12 to 25 years doing amazing things in the community, I urge you to nominate them in this year’s Youth Awards,” Ms Weiss said.
