A new free service is available to Macedon Ranges residents to help them with accessing government services and seeking support.
Led by Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health, the service provides the opportunity for residents to meet with someone in their home, or another place where they feel comfortable, to discuss support options.
Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health connection officer Carolyn Colson said that there can be many barriers to finding the correct support.
“Often people are not aware of the funding or the services that are available to them, or they might be unsure how to go about connecting with a service,” Ms Colson said.
“The barrier might be what they perceive as their lack of computer skills, or they might not feel confident picking up the phone,” she said.
The program will help residents contact services and agencies, such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme and Centrelink, and look into relevant groups and programs in their local area.
“I can help navigate what can be an overwhelming amount of information, and together we can find the support that a person wants and needs,” Ms Colson said.
