New RACV campaign rolls out

RACV is shining a spotlight on Melbourne’s most dangerous intersections, with a new campaign that targets Melburnians heading into the hotspots.

RACV announced the results of its My Melbourne Road survey last month, where more than 12,000 road users voted and identified the most dangerous intersections across seven areas of the city: Inner, West, North-West, North-East, East, Inner South-East and Outer South-East.

Now RACV is urging drivers to take extra caution, rolling out an outdoor campaign at key sites around Melbourne’s most dangerous intersections, encouraging motorists to ‘Drive safe while we drive for change’.

RACV general manager brand, marketing and communications Shane Capron said the campaign is designed to promote driver vigilance while RACV presents the My Melbourne Road data to government and advocates for action.

“RACV is working in close consultation with government, providing an evidence-based approach for governments to make targeted investment decisions across a range of budgets,” Mr Capron said.

“In the meantime, we’re hoping this new billboard and uber campaign will be a reminder to drivers to prioritise their safety at these high-risk intersections.

RACV’s My Melbourne Road most dangerous intersections include:

North-East Melbourne – Greensborough Bypass and Diamond Creek Road roundabout in Greensborough

North-West Melbourne – Mount Alexander Road, Keilor Road and Lincoln Road in Essendon

West Melbourne – Western Freeway on/off ramps at Hopkins Road in Deanside

East Melbourne – Mountain Highway, Wantirna Road and Boronia Road in Wantirna

Inner South-East Melbourne – Dandenong Road (Princes Highway) and Warrigal Road in Malvern East

Outer South-East Melbourne – Princes Highway, Springvale Road and Centre Road in Springvale

Inner Melbourne – Flemington Road and Racecourse Road in Parkville

While RACV continues to advocate to make Victorian roads safer, RACV urges motorists to drive safely and reduce risks wherever possible.

Full survey results can be found in the RACV My Melbourne Road storybook.
