Craig Holmes is passing the mantle to Darren Egberts as the new principal of Sacred Heart College Kyneton.
After eight years as the head of the school Mr Holmes has resigned from the role, effective from mid-January next year.
He said one of his highlights during his time as principal was seeing the students grow academically.
“It was great to see the school flourish in VCE results … and the redevelopment of the college crest.”
Mr Holmes will be moving to Thomas Carr College Tarneit as the new principal for the start of the 2019 school year.
Mr Egberts, who has been principal at Mercy Regional College in Camperdown for eight years, said he was looking forward to making the move to Kyneton with his family.
“It was time for a change … we were looking for a bigger Catholic school but ideally one that wasn’t in the city, so Kyneton had all of those things,” Mr Egberts said.
“It’s been a fantastic eight years for me and my family [at Camperdown].”
“It’s been a privilege to be with the students and their parents … we’re a fabulous country school, a very strong community, a very sports supportive community … and in eight years you get to see students move from becoming children to becoming young adults.”
Mr Egberts said he was looking forward to continuing his work in the Catholic education system at Sacred Heart College.
“It’s a Mercy school, which I’ve had a long association with, and to be back as principal of a Mercy school is a particular pleasure for me.”
