Gisborne families now have access to bigger kindergarten facilities.
Swinburne Avenue Kindergarten’s $735,000 upgrade is complete and includes an extension to the building, a new shared office space, child amenities, storage and a new meeting room for parents, staff and other health professionals.
The state government contributed $500,000 to the project through the 2019-20 Children’s Facilities Capital Program.
Macedon Ranges council provided $235,000 to the project.
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said the Gisborne project was part of a statewide $5 billion plan to provide Victorian children with at least five hours of subsidised three-year kinder by 2022, and up to 15 hours per week over the next decade.
“Every child across Gisborne deserves the very best facilities to get the best start in life,” she said.
“It is fantastic to see this important upgrade completed.
“The upgrade to Swinburne Avenue Kindergarten will give Gisborne’s littlest residents an even better kindergarten experience and strong support from a young age so they are ready and prepared for school.”
