Lancefield Primary School pupils are enjoying a new discovery learning centre.

Earlier this month, Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas visited the school to officially open a $288,900 upgrade of its old library which was transformed into a new discovery learning centre.

The centre, named the Wil-im-ee Moo-ring Centre, will have a science focus, to help pupils draw on the area’s unique natural history and megafauna.

The centre will also support the school’s Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program.

Ms Thomas said the centre was a “fantastic addition” to the school.

“The new discovery learning centre is … a place where Lancefield students can learn about science and discover new things about the natural history of their community,” she said.

“The discovery centre will support the school’s science program and the students’ interest in Lancefield’s rich Wurundjeri heritage and the unique megafauna site.

“It’s been fantastic to work with principal Jo Edmond to support the vision for a discovery learning centre at Lancefield Primary School.

“These works are about more than giving Lancefield students the school facilities they deserve. It’s about helping build community pride in a great local school.”
