A new zebra crossing is now operating in Victoria Street, Kyneton.

The crossing was funded through the TAC program Towards Zero campaign, with Macedon Ranges council funding an on duty school crossing supervisor through the 2019-20 budget.

The council’s planning and environment director Angela Hughes said the council was pleased to provide additional safety measures in response to request from school and community members.

She urged drivers to become aware of the new crossing and associated speed limits.

“School crossing supervisors play an important role in helping children across the shire get to school safely,” she said.

“The council is pleased to add this additional crossing supervisor to the 19 existing location across the shire where our friendly team work diligently to keep our kids safe on their way to ad from school.

“As this is a new zebra crossing, we encourage drivers to be cautious and familiarise themselves with changed traffic features as they are approaching the corner of Victoria Street and Market Street.”

The school crossing supervisor will be on duty during peak school times and can assist children using the crossing.
