Kyneton sports and aquatics centre will have temporary closures in late June, to receive new boilers for more consistent pool temperatures.
Macedon Ranges council announced the upgrade and temporary closures on June 21, and said the new boiler installation would replace the existing system, which has reached the end of its life.
The centre will be closed from Monday, June 26, to Wednesday, June 28, and will reopen on Thursday, June 29, except for the pools.
The pools will reopen on Saturday, July 1, and may take up to a day to adjust the boiler following the changeover.
Members will be able to access the Gisborne Aquatic Centre and Gisborne Fitness Centre during this temporary closure. Members with FOB access will have 24/7 access during the Kyneton closure period.
However, the Gisborne centre is scheduled to close on Wednesday, June 28, for staff training and scheduled maintenance.
Council said it will optimise the Kyneton centre’s temporary closure by undertaking essential maintenance and painting.
The in investment in new gas boilers is an interim measure, and council said the longer-term goal is to transition from gas to electric heat pumps powered by carbon-zero electricity.
This is outlined in council’s ‘counting down to zero’ plan to target net-zero emissions by June 30, 2030.
