The Mt Macedon Anzac Day dawn service this year drew its biggest attendance since 2015.
That’s the word of dawn service committee chairman Bruce Mildenhall, who said everyone involved with the annual event was delighted.
“The weather was almost beautiful,” he said. “And we had very positive feedback about the service.”
Mr Mildenhall said he thought the milder than usual weather had generated a bigger crowd than in recent years. He estimated about 2000 people attended last Wednesday’s service.
While most people caught free buses to Mt Macedon Memorial Cross, a number of people walked or cycled up the mountain in the dark.
“I guess that’s part of their own personal pilgrimage,” Mr Mildenhall said.
